Hi there,
I’m James Powell, the owner of Powell Film Co. While we primarily market as Wedding Videographers as it best fits our schedules for now. We are no strangers to filming interviews, events, brand films, music videos, missions reports, almost any type of photography, etc.
Clients include: Shark Tank, Church Motion Graphics, Moink, Jordan Brady Films, Westside Family Church (KC), Crossroads Church (Lincoln, NE).
James is a genuine jack of all trades in the media field, pulling on 18yrs of experience from all the different media disciplines, adapting to farms, cities, foreign countries to bring together creative films and photos.
Recent Video Projects
Here are two demo reels, highlighting motion graphic projects and the other is 2022 Demo’s reel. Need to work on a 2024 Demo reel, but currently too busy editing projects at the moment.
Rally for Recovery
Inspired by Danny Gevirtz’s “Rapha Rides Maui” I put together a video invitation for people to participate in Heartland Recovery’s Rally for Recovery event. It was really nice to flex my creative muscles.
Heartland Today
This is one of the most extensive projects we’ve been involved with to date. Our community has experienced considerable changes and restructuring. It was tasked to the Heartland media department to help explain those changes. The majority of this was filmed on cinema cameras and used a combination of techniques to help the staff feel comfortable on camera. It resulted in a very well constructed promo that was used as an online event for donor engagement.
Walking Through Recovery
A testimonial series we started for graduates of our 12 month recovery program. Giving graduates an a platform to share their story and offer hope to others. Tye (far left) was in my life group via church for 12 months and would spend a few hours at my home each week. So far from just filming people, but stories from people I’ve lived life with.

Commercial / Non-Profit
Here are several videos we shot that we’re pretty proud of. “Thankful for Recovery” is a series we do annually around Thanksgiving to raise awareness for drug and alcohol recovery.
“Kids Tell the Christmas Story” was a blast to film. Kids shared the biblical story of Christmas in their own words and then their parents acted it out! Lots of laughs behind the scenes on this one.
Missions Documentaries
Filming Missions work has been a defining area of our work since 2008. Here are a couple of our favorite missions videos. It’s admittingly been a couple years since I’ve whisked around the world, but three young kids at home will do that.
