Surprise Sunset Engagement

I’ve known Peter his whole life, but I really got to know him when he was a young man in our youth group. It was a privilege to see him grow up and now be a part of this special moment in his life. When he reached out and asked if I could capture his engagement, I was excited to say yes.

The plan was for Peter and Sarah to spend time together at his grandparents' farm, and for me to secretly hide in the barn and capture the moment. As I drove up to the gravel road leading to the farm, I couldn't help but feel a small twinge of fear. What if I ended up hiding in the wrong barn? After all, I live in rural Missouri, and wandering around someone else's property with a camera is not something you want to do.

To make sure I was in the right place, I did a quick drive-by to spot the cars. Phew, this was the right spot. I parked on the side of the road and hiked through a field to the barn, then texted Peter to let him know I was in position.

It was a chilly day, and I wondered if Peter would be able to convince Sarah to step outside and "see the sunset."

Well as you can see from the pictures, he got her outside, probably a little confused for a second. And it all turned out beautifully. It was terribly cold so we got all the pictures done in less than 10 minutes. The look on Sarah’s face was perfect! Surprise accomplished!
