Filming for Shark Tank

You never know what kind of inquires will come in. In August, Moink reached out looking for supplemental promotional product footage for the TV show, Shark Tank.

My first thought was awesome! And then… oh man, I’m going to need some help. I needed some actors to interact with the product and someone who could help make the meat look pretty. Cue Kelly Vera, not only can Kelly cook, but she’s also a great photographer. I was really grateful for her eye for detail. Lacey was also a photographer and a great help representing Moink’s marketing side with another great eye for detail. (Two good eyes for details!)

Kelly sprinkling on the salt. I think we did this like 4 times.

We all brought in all the cooking accessories and garnishes we could find, it’s nice to have options. Kelly made a grocery run. I just happened to have a healthy herb garden so I went out that morning and cut some sprigs. Then Jacob and Kobbe came in as actors. We had to borrow an older child, thanks Carmen! Overall a successful shoot. Each shot took a lot of prep and attention to detail.

Really grateful for this opportunity and experience. These kind of things don’t come around often and you just have to jump in, do the best you can, and bring in a team of talented people. Thank you, Lucinda for giving me a shot. I felt pretty dang proud watching the little bit of footage we filmed on National TV.

Note: We only shot a handful of pick up shots, promotional footage of meat and Moink boxes. We did not film the interviews, etc. That was Shark Tanks crew. Reference the images above for Powell Film Co.’s contributions.

Watch the Shark Tank episode here. Starts around 9mins in.
